If there’s one thing I like more than trackables, it’s FREE trackables! Groundspeak have teamed up with the makers of trading card game Magic: The Gathering for a worldwide trackable promotion and I have been tasked with finding homes among my followers for some of the tags.
Magic: The Gathering – What Is It?
I’ll be the first to admit that I was not familiar with the popular trading card game before I was asked to take part in the promotion*. First published in 1993, Magic: The Gathering (MTG) was the first ever trading card game and has approximately twenty million players worldwide!
New expansion packs are regularly added and to launch the new Ixalan set, MTG have teamed up with Geocaching to help spread the word with some great travel bugs. The idea is that the trackable tags will be moved around caches and clock up mileage. When a certain number of miles are travelled, new Ixalan preview cards will be unlocked for MTG players.
If you are both a geocacher and an MTG player, this is the perfect promotion for you. If you are a geocacher but not an MTG player, you can still enjoy the fun of owning a new trackable and watch it moving from cache to cache!
How Do I Get a Tag?
There are 1,500 trackables up for grabs for players around the world and to be in with a chance of getting one from geocaching.com, enter your details in to the web form here before Friday.
Alternatively, I am giving away fourteen trackables and here’s how you can win one for you and a friend:
- Follow me on Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram (you only need to follow me on one platform)
- Comment on the post (or reply on Twitter) with the below image detailing my Magic: The Gathering competition on one of these platforms
- Tag a friend who you think has the magic touch when it comes to finding geocaches and tell me why you think their geo-powers are magical!
You have until midnight (BST) on Friday, 25th August to win one of seven sets of Magic: The Gathering trackables for you and your tagged friend.
