My name is Sarah and I am a geocaching and travel addict. Hi Sarah.
Do you love geocaching and travel? Well you’re in the right place! Travel is a big passion for me. I went on my first overseas trip aged 3 when I went to visit my older sister in England with my parents. When I was 7, I took my first trip to the US. I remember being very worried that I wouldn’t understand people because I didn’t speak American(!)
I seriously caught the travel bug while studying in Germany for a year, during which time I visited lots of German cities, Prague, Budapest and Barcelona. The following summer I interrailed around Germany, Switzerland and Austria on my own (much to the dismay of my mother!).
While I’ve always been lucky to travel a lot, I only discovered geocaching in August 2013 and without going too deep too early on, I can safely say it has changed my life. I was never very active and definitely not the ‘outdoorsy’ type. That all changed when I started geocaching. Now I find myself going on long hikes for just one or two caches. I can’t get enough!
I’ve also seen more of this little island of Ireland in the past few years than I ever have in my whole life. All because of geocaching.
This blog is a chronicle of these obsessions: travel and geocaching. For the geocaching section, I look at everything from newbie tips to difficult challenges and ridiculous incidents that have happened while out caching, with a few interesting interviews thrown in for good measure!
Geocaching brings me to little-known places in cities – those secret spots that locals would point you to, if they knew you or spoke your language. It’s like having my own personal tour guide! I want to share some of those great places I’ve found in the travel part of this blog. I also take every chance I can to showcase the wonderful island I call my home.
Since I started blogging, I have been honoured to have my writing published online at the Geocaching.com Blog, Hike it Baby, Locus Maps, GotIreland, Belfast Vibe and Outdoor Bloggers UK, and in print in UK Cache Mag and FTF Geocacher Magazine. In April 2017, I was delighted to start as resident blogger on the Geocache Talk Network.
I have been a finalist the Travel category at the Littlewoods Ireland Blog Awards 2016, as well as in the Best Social Mediaist category at the 2016 British and Irish Geocaching Awards. In 2017, I am honoured to be shortlisted in the Best Geocaching Blogger/Vlogger category at the British and Irish Geocaching Awards. You can vote for my blog here.
I hope you enjoy reading the blog as much as I enjoy writing it. If you want to get in touch, you can find me on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest, or you can email me at sarah@thegeocachingjunkie.com

Thank you very much, I’ll follow you on twitter for sure 🙂

Thank you Thomas! Please go ahead and ask if you have any specific questions. There will be a geocamping event in Tipperary on the 20th August, not sure how that might fit in with your plans 🙂

Hi Sarah. Another geocacher named Sarah, but I’m from Texas. Hope to make it to Ireland someday. Looks beautiful. Please keep taking pictures for inspiration, so I can have more motivation to come cache the Emerald Isle? 😉
